Project Aim

Through the Sports for Empowerment project we provide both the incentive and the opportunity for Sierra Leonean youth to realise their full educational and personal development potential.

Our driving aim is to contribute to the forging of a new Sierra Leonean generation: one that is more educated, one that is more empowered and one that is more self-aware. With these tools we believe that Sierra Leonean youths will be better equipped than their forefathers to drive the micro and macro changes that stifle the development of Sierra Leone.

Why Sport?

We believe that participation in sport can serve as a catalyst for promoting social integration and personal development in different geographical, cultural and political contexts. We see sport as a powerful tool for strengthen social ties and networks, and for promoting ideals on peace, fraternity, solidarity, non-violence, tolerance and justice. Finally, inclusive sports is fun and in places like Sierra Leone can provide a welcome short distraction from everyday life.

Sport is not limited to elite or organised competition. Sport can include play, recreation, and indigenous sports and games.
