Sport For Empowerment uses the power of sport to teach the youth in Sierra Leone about things like health issues, hygiene and livelyhood for example. Sport is a powerful tool to strengthen social ties and networks, and to promote ideals on peace, fraternity, solidarity, non-violence, tolerance and justice.

We have established partnerships with a few other organisations.

Some of our current projects and partnerships include:

In the Netherlands, SFE is giving a helping hand by setting up a parkrun in Dordrecht. parkrun is a social and sports event held every saturday at 9.00 in 22 countries across the world.

In the Netherlands, SFE is promoting a healthy lifestyle by encouraging people to exercise and by conducting sport sessions.

SFE Sierra Leone is currently sponsoring two university students who are studying law and economics. Both of them are helping the foundation in return. One of our beneficiaries is currently waiting for his school results which will hopefully get him into university this october (2025).

Ebola Orphan Project (EOP) – We support a number of children who have become orphans due to the horrific Ebola Outbreak in 2014. SFE encourages these children to go to school and to become better people in life.

Friends in Sport Academy (FiSA) – Our partner organisation in Lumley has started its own school. We are involved in the daily activities of this school. SFE also organises training for the teachers and we sponsor a number of pupils.

Wilde Ganzen has supported some of our projects in the past few years. We hope to continue our cooperation with them in the years to come!

Support Sport Sierra Leone has just signed an MOU with SFE with the purpose of setting up a computer lab in our school in Freetown (FiSA). This lab should be up and running by the end of 2025.
